What motivates you to work out and live a healthy lifestyle?
Our bodies are the only home
that we can’t move of! At a young age (12 years old) I was diagnosed with high cholesterol
and watching my family struggle with high cholesterol and high blood pressure was enough
for me to be health conscious at an early age. I did what I could by consuming oatmeal
every day and watching what I ate, I was able to lower my cholesterol levels. 10 years ago
Fitness became a lifestyle for me when I met my then boyfriend Ralph Civil who is
currently my husband. I’ve watched and learned so much from him throughout his fitness
journey. He lost over 50lbs and has motivated me to live a healthier lifestyle, while motivating
others through speaking engagements, public events, online coaching, motivational post,
and Vloging .
What does your workout routine look like?
Currently I am 28 weeks pregnant, prior to
pregnancy I would exercise 3-5 days a week incorporating HIITs, functional training,
Interval Training, Weight training, and circuit training in my fitness routine. Now I still
exercise 3-5 days a week, my midwive has cleared me to continue my same exercise
regimen, but I have lowered my intensity.
What do you eat in a typical day to stay in shape?
I eat Balanced meals, as well as pay
attention to my macros. Clean protein, clean carbohydrates, and clean fats. I often change
my macros depending on what my goals are. I upload weekly videos of what I consume on
my YouTube Channel: Magda Civil
How do you maintain your hair while working out?
I am natural, so preventing my roots
from swelling due to sweat or moisture from the shower is key. I have a great hairstylist and
I also keep a silk scarf/ hat on while I’m exercising to prevent my hair from frizzing.
What’s in your gym bag?
My Body fat machine and measuring tape for personal Training clients, toiletries: deodorant,
sunscreen, lotion , lip balm, wipes, Towel, water, Gatorade, towel, Exercising Equipment such as
resistance bands, gloves, and hand pads.
How do you create the balance between being a mom & wife, and making time for the gym?
Soon to be mom, but I make family life a priority and try not to think about it like a
difficult task. Time management is key.
