Tell us a little about yourself?
I love nature, especially islands. I’m a proud black woman, proud of my roots. I love music, all kinds of black music. I have a little 2yo boy named Zahir, he’s my light. Cooking is one of my passions; it’s very relaxing to me. I have been fighting post partum depression with the gym. Plant based diet since 2015
What motivates you to work out and live a healthy lifestyle?
I always looked at women dreaming about having their bodies, I realized I can be my own dream, so I set up a goal and set a new one when I reach the other. I can be whoever and however I want to be, I want women to understand their power.
What does your workout routine look like?
I have different workouts, I start with cardio the first day of the week, then legs and core with body weight exercises. Arms& core with the same type of body weight/at home workout, then I usually have two sessions at the gym, one for upper body and the other for lower. 1 day rest.
I also learned to listen to my body, so when I feel like not doing anything and I don’t have good reasons to not workout I push myself into doing it. I don’t want to give up.
What do you eat in a typical day to stay in shape?
I don’t eat to stay in shape nor to loose weight, I eat to nourish my temple. I have been practicing intermittent fasting for about a month now but before that:
-smoothie in the morning with fresh fruits, cold pressed juice, seeds and maybe nuts butter
-main meal rich in vegetables, something always have to be raw.
-smoothie
-then a post workout protein shake.
How do you maintain your hair while working out?
I leave them as they are or do a pony tail. After working out I use natural organic products to wash them.
What’s in your gym bag?
Resistance bands, sweat belt, sweat oil (oil to make you sweat more), headphones, towel, gloves to lift weights.
What might we catch you doing outside the gym?
Walking around with my son. Or parading at a Caribbean carnival.
