Tell us a little about yourself? I’m an ACE certified personal trainer, I’ve been training for about 4 years. I just got into body building last year and competed in my first show last August in the figure category and did very well. Fitness is my passion. I’m currently in a physical therapist assist program and will be continuing to go for my doctorate in PT later down the line. I have a bachelors in biology from Oakland University and it was there I realized I was in love with working out and fitness.

What motivates you to work out and live a healthy lifestyle?

Knowing that people look to me for motivation helps keep me motivated and knowing that the body is capable of doing amazing things if you stay consistent and disciplined. When the motivation isn’t there, that’s when discipline kicks in. In my mind, I have an idea of how I want to look and that can only be achieved with exercise, drinking water and eating clean.

What does your workout routine look like?

In the mornings, I’ll start off with doing 45 minutes to an hour of fasted cardio, preferably on the stair climber. Later in the day, I’ll lift weights focusing on a certain muscle group ie. leg day, back day, etc. or do a full body workout. I’ll superset moves or exhaust my muscles until failure. Sets and reps varies from 4-5 sets, 10-15 reps.

What do you eat in a typical day to stay in shape?

Now that I’m back to intermittent fasting, doing a 16/8 split (fasting for 16 hours and eating in that 8 hour window), I’ll start off with a protein shake, have oatmeal and egg whites later, and then end with a protein and veggies. I’ve been a pescatarian since July ‘17, sometimes my meals are just veggies, and sometimes I have all the macros (proteins, carbs, fats).

How do you maintain your hair while working out?

Usually my hair is in braids or I’m wearing a unit. It’s rare that I wear my natural hair pressed and curled because it’ll be up in a ponytail & poof 3 days later.

What’s in your gym bag?

In my gym bag I have mini-bands by the x bands, workout gloves that I barely wear, my sweat sweat band & their cream or my TC1 activator cream. I also have my Beats headphones, pre-workout and my weight lifting belt.

What might we catch you doing outside the gym?

If I’m not at the gym I’m at school, at home studying or working on online training programs or out and about with friends.

Give your best 3 health tips that people can implement right now.

1) Start now!

2) You can’t outwork a bad diet, nutrition trumps all.
